Fantastic monitor. Inexpensive and beautiful. Gamer review. 5ms response April 27, 2009 J. J. Marino (Rochester, New York) 50 out of 52 found this review helpful
I am using this monitor right now as a backup monitor for my main which died last week. I got this one because of 2 main things; price and repsonse time. If you are into games then you know what a fast response time means. It means less video tearing and faster black to black. My last monitor was 8ms and I thought that it was perfect. Now with this one I am very impressed.
Here are the main specs:
<> Response time: 5ms.
<> Viewable Screen Size: 21.5 inches
<> Viewing Angle: Horizontal 170deg & Vertical 160 deg
<> Contrast Ratios are; Dynamic 15000:1 & Native 1000:1
<> Brightness: 300 cd
<> Resolution: 1920 x 1080
Pros.
>> Price
>> Speed
>> Controls
>> Real HD
Cons.
<< Stand is kind of flimsy
<< Piano black finish shows Cheetos and fingerprints too easily.
Overall 5-star and a great product.
Thank you for reading my review.
great monitor, and cheap too! April 5, 2009 D. Barrows 48 out of 50 found this review helpful
I was looking for a nice large monitor to attach to my 15 inch macbook pro. The only problem i have encountered is it is a bit difficult to get the base attached to the monitor. The socket in which it goes is very tight and it took a while and a lot of force to get it in there. The directions about this part were very unclear.
Once the monitor was set up i plugged it in to the wall, then my computer through the included dvi cable and powered it on. Picture showed up in full resolution right away with no need to install drivers or make any adjustments.
This monitor works great as a second monitor, or even as the only monitor with the macbook closed. The picture is great and this monitor has a 16x 9 aspect ratio instead of the normal 16x10. This makes it great for watching movies or online tv shows.
Great product and great value.
edit: Some mac users appear to have had problems with getting the brightness and color settings the way they wanted. After using this monitor for almost a year, I agree that in a dark environment some sort of brightness control would be nice. Also, using the color tab under displays in system preferences i was able to calibrate the colors sufficiently to my liking.
Overall after a year I have had no problems whatsoever with this monitor, and i would definitely but it again. Compared to an apple display at 3-4x the price, in my opinion it was a no-brainer.
Doesn't get any better than this July 20, 2009 rsinj 23 out of 24 found this review helpful
I am very partial towards Samsung monitors in general. They are simply quality products. Sure, there are others that are less expensive, but not with the specs of the 2233SW and not with the brand name of Samsung behind it.
I learned long ago that one of the most important key features with any monitor is the dot pitch - the lower, the better. In general, monitors have pitch ratios at 0.28 and higher - this produces a less crisp image and text. Some of the better LCDs out there are at 0.27 and a couple at 0.26. The 2233SW blows them all away with 0.248 - this is unheard of. When you hook it up for the first time with the optimal settings, you'll have an ear-to-ear smile - the picture is that good...even using the VGA connector.
For the price Amazon is offering this monitor, and the current Samsung rebate, you cannot beat it. Others which are not as good cost more - even before the rebate. I purchased two, shipped/arrived quickly, no bad pixels, I've used them with both the VGA and DVI connectors. As with every other Samsung monitor I've owned, this one is no different - extremely impressive.
Far surpassed my expectations August 9, 2009 Fallible Human (Kissimmee, Fl USA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
I told myself that when it came time to buy a new monitor that I would not buy one without having seen it first. But the price on this one was good, the user reviews were good to excellent (except a few people who seemed to have trouble putting the stand together: Problem fixed apparently because it took me all of 30 seconds to put it on) and I have had nothing but good luck with Samsung.
Connecting the monitor was a breeze and Windows XP recognized it right away even without the CD. Once I changed the resolution to 1920x1080 my jaw hit the floor: This is the sharpest picture I have ever seen on a computer monitor. Very very satisfied with the whole experience. Highly recommended!

Great monitor at a great price. Beautiful image quality - significant improvement over my NEC 1760 monitor. Had no problem attaching the base.
